Important Announcement: Maxwells Gateshead Store Closure

After much deliberation, Maxwells has made the decision to close our Gateshead branch. This decision, though not easy, is a necessary step as we focus on ensuring the long-term success of our business.

For years, our Gateshead store has been a part of the local fabric, and we’re immensely grateful to our customers and staff for their steadfast loyalty and hard work. Their dedication has been vital to the store’s success and growth. However, the reality of the retail sector today demands that we make changes in order to thrive in the future.

The closure of our Gateshead location, following the recent announcement of the closure of our Fulwell branch, is part of a broader plan to streamline our operations and focus our efforts on key stores and areas. Maxwells will continue to serve the region with the same dedication and range of products through our flagship stores in Birtley and Peterlee, as well as other locations in Jarrow, Ashington and Barnard Castle.

While we are deeply saddened to leave Gateshead, we are confident that this strategic shift will strengthen our overall presence and allow us to continue offering the excellent quality and service that Maxwells has been known for since 1932.
