Maxwells Announces Strategic Store Realignment for a Stronger Future

Some of our customers may have already heard rumours about some up-and-coming changes at Maxwells, and we want to address them directly.
As a family-run business that’s been part of the community since 1932, this is not an easy announcement to make. After careful thought and consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Fulwell store. We know this news may be disappointing, and it’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly.
Our Fulwell branch has been an important part of Maxwells for decades, and we want to personally thank all our loyal customers and dedicated staff. Your support over the years has been nothing short of remarkable, and we are deeply grateful for the role each of you has played in our story.
The retail landscape has changed dramatically, and we need to adapt to ensure Maxwells continues to thrive. While we’re saying farewell to Fulwell, this is part of a larger strategy to strengthen our business for the future. By focusing on key locations, such as our flagship stores in Birtley and Peterlee, we can continue to provide the best possible experience for our customers across the region.
Rest assured; this isn’t the end. Our Fulwell customers will still find the same friendly service and wide range of products at our nearby stores in Jarrow, Birtley and our other locations.
This decision marks the beginning of a new chapter for Maxwells. We remain committed to our founding values of quality and customer service and we’re confident these changes will allow us to continue serving you for many years to come.
